Brassidium FANGtastic
Default Brassidium FANGtastic

started to get some more orchids again.

This one had no name tag but the store owner told me it is FANGtastic.

Very large flower with more than 10in across from top to bottom of a flower. not strong but pleasantly scented.

This one has two pb with one spike each. Three new growths are developing at the same time. One of the spike is broken so I got it pretty cheap.
Something I was never really been drawn to before, but I liked it when I saw it.
I think if those thin sepals and petals were evenly straight, I would really really love it. Some flowers are perfectly shaped while some are all bent and twisted a bit. funny!

i have found the key to uniform blooming flowers all in a row, is to not move the plant once it makes spikes....then they line up like little soldiers, lol....gl

Hi, Bud!

Yeah, this one has three pbs, two of which are really big and have spikes on. All three have one new shoot attached to them. I can imagine how fast this plant will get so large!
hopefully three spikes later this year. It'll be quite the show!

This one came like this when I bought it.
Also, I should have carried it alone not with others in a bag because I accidently damaged quite a few flowers.
oh, well...

I've been looking up some images and that's the one I think what this one is.

Nice one! I had an all green flower type of this and loved it. Is it scented? I think mine had a spiced vanilla scent. I need to replace mine! You've inspired me.

I wouldn't count on getting the clone right with this one, I've already found there's a lot of grexs even look very similar.

I have a plant that was sold to me as Brassia Toscanna. Long story, but I eventually got it pinned down as Brassidium Spider Stars 'Toscanna' (also sold as Bratonia and Miltassia!). It looks very like yours! There's also a site selling two clones of mine: Toscanna and Niep, and I can't see any real difference between the two... perhaps it's visible in person! If I hadn't been sold it under the clone name there's no way I'd have been able to identify it.

Mine the scent is quite variable from almost nothing to one you can smell when you go into the room. So yours might turn out the same.

A tip I got at an orchid society meeting for getting neat flowers: put a piece of black card on one side of the plant once it's in spike.

Mine is also growing like a weed. The smell is a (variable) mix of black pepper, honey, green tea and something floral (forget what!). One I'd recomend if you are looking Pilot!
