Ryan, when you come to NYC, we'll go orchid shopping!
I'm holding you to it!!! I sadly don't get to go much these days but I love that city!

Default update...

So it's been in bloom for nearly two months now and it has started losing flowers.

One interesting thing I noticed is the color change of flower. About one month ago when I moved to a new place, the yellow lip on flowers were turning pale almost cream white, which is common for yellow flowers when they are nearing the end.
Then the yellow color came back even more intense.
I've never seen something like that.

I'm not sure if it is the warmth in this apartment, brighter setting? these two are pretty much the only environmental changes brought on them.

By the way, the flowers are scented even as they are about to fall off. definitely a keeper!

NYCorchidman, I love to look at your orchid pics -and have a nose around your apartment. Both of which look very nice! I wonder, just how many orchids do you actually have? I'm guessing about 100+ maybe? You seem to always be buying them and I am so jealous!! I get a few a year you seem to get a few a week!

Odcdm. Sunlight is apparently quite variable. I have two, 'Hilo Honey" that's yellow:

and my favorite, 'Pesky Panther' that is darker than 'NN':

Thank you, Susie!

Well, I had quite a few. close to 100, but then, I got rid of many right before I moved here knowing that some of them may not survive in the hot sunny window. Also, some of the easy to find orchids were given away.

Ever since I moved, everyone's been growing quite well (especially dendrobiums) so I started buying more. I just buy when I see something I like, but not all. I wish I had a larger space. Don't we all?

Ray- Thanks for the pictures. I like Hilo Honey, like the refreshingly bright lemon color and their scent is also good! I just heard they are cool growing, so I never got one. maybe it was wrong info.
Pesky Panther is similar to mine, but I personally like the sharpe edge of the flower better. I might get one soon.
