It will always be Baptistonia to me.
I have this Baptistonia echinata that I have had for several years that I just love. It looks like a swarm of busy bees. I hate that they reclassified it to Gomesa. It will always be Baptistonia to me. The picture is not very good, I found it nearly impossible to get even a decent picture.

acid colors...and a cluster of dainty flowers...that is awesome!
I like Baptistonia too...Gomesa sounds weird...oh well... wait a couple of years and this will have another name...

My mind is overly partial to puns. I would immediately be forced not only to stick to Baptistonia, but call it "John the Baptistonia". That would also make an amusing clonal name to my warped sense of humour.

I never heard of that genus before, the blooms look really nice! Name changes are a pain. You call an orchid something for years, then someone comes along and changes is it! I try to keep up with the changes, but some I really dislike, like all the little Laelias becoming Catts...

Sounds like either a description of a land mass, i.e. plateau - gomesa, or a medical term for what's left in an airplane emergency bag or on the floor after drinking too much beer !!!
