Default Baptistonia echinata

This is an Oncidium close relative; hard to understand why it is placed in a separate genus of a single species. Anyway, it is a plant natural of the Atlantic coastal forests of my State and also Rio de Janeiro State, has dark green, fusiform pseudo bulbs and a well-grown plant of Baptistonia, showing several floral stems, are irresistible. Its flowers, resembling a bee caught and frozen in the air are very attractive.

Rosim - I am curious as to what type of media you have your Baptistonia in? I have one that is not doing so well in S/H. I cannot see the picture you posted as this thread is old. Any cultural tips would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Frank, I grow mine in very loosely tree fern fiber. It is native of our coastal forests, so it loves humid environment, but with a slightly drier period during winter. It does not rain during winter in the region of occurance, but a very humid fog coming from the sea provides plenty water in the afternoons. Also bright places is something it appreciates much.
