Woo hoo! My second plant to bloom this year! Of course I am looking for you guys to enlighten me about this plant!

I got this as 1 of 5 orchids from hubby for Christmas. Tag reads Bllra. Tropic Tom 'Honker'. Came to me with 3 buds, two have opened in the past couple days.

I noticed the first bud opened kinda wonky, any reason why? The second bud isn't fully opened yet. I am stoked at the awesome colors though, I love the mottled looking flowers.

For those of you who are better at navigating RHS than I am, can you tell me anything else about this plant? (parentage maybe?)

Anywho, just wanted to show off my newest blooming plant!

If you look it up as Beallara Tropic Tom, you won't find it; the genus is now Aliceara. A tip: never enter more info than absolutely necessary to get a return; I never enter the genus in the RHS database the first time around.

I didn't know the genus name change either. I just entered the Grex name 'Tropic Tom' and got the same info as msaar. Here's the link to the info I got; The International Orchid Register / RHS Gardening

Default Aliceara Tropic Tom 'Honker'

I purchased my plant last summer as a small plant along with seven others. TT just started to bloom and I noticed that it's petals are all curling back to the stem. I would imagine this may be due this particular cross. I don't believe they should bloom this way. Also I was wondering if this could be due to not enough water. Any suggestions?
