Miltonia Sunset
Here is the first flower on my Miltonia Sunset. I'm not sure if she'll unfurl her lip a bit more or not as it's rather dry air in the house. I got this from Ecuagenera this past Oct. after seeing my friend's plant and falling in love with it. I am hoping for more buds next time  |

How long has the flower been open for? Could be a lack of humidity or just needs more time to unfurl. Either way she's still a pretty one!

Gorgeous!!  Does it bloom on mature or immature growths? I can't tell from the pics. I got a small one after you posted the pic of your friend's plant, and it's busy with new growths.

That is just an adorable flower. Very simple lines, texture and color. I love the lip form... its that fruffy ruffles and yes it may yet unfurl to its full potential and flatten a bit its petals...

Thanks Camille and all for the comments. It gets the spike just as the growth is fully mature. When I got this in Oct. the spike wasn't visible and soon after it showed up. There is a slightly newer growth that isn't quite mature and I keep looking for a spike. I'm not sure if one will develop because this came bare root and I always feel that sets them back a bit. but this spike developed fine, so maybe not.
Judi, the bud only opened yesterday. These buds open in a matter of hours and you can almost stand there and watch it happen! Since I took the picture today, it has unfolded a little more and is pretty much open all the way. No scent yet but it may develop. |
