Default Miltonia spectabilis finally bloomed

I bought this plant back in late spring. It came with a small bud. I have watched it grow all summer and when the monsoon rains came it really jumped. It started to open yesterday and I brought it in the house so the heavy rain wouldn't knock the flower off. It was sure worth waiting for!!

What a lovely bloom. Congrats!
I've been offered a gift of a Milt. spectabilis that I haven't collected yet so will now be rushing to get it. I hope it turns out as well as yours.

Oh yes Shirley, I would take advantage of that gift. I mounted mine shortly after I got it. I read they do like to ramble. I think after the bloom has faded I will finally see some growth.

Nope Judi it don't and that's a real shame because I think from it's looks it should have a real pretty delicate scent!!
