Default Rodriguezia strobelii

Hard to believe this is an orchid judging from the photo of its flowers, but it is!

I'm not too sure if it really is Rodriguezia strobelii or not.

Unexpected blooms on this rootless, unestablished division. The plant itself seems to be doing ok after blooming.

Hard to get a good photo of this one because of the flower shape.

It is a non-resupinate flower. If you look closely, the column is actually on the bottom. The anther cap is pink and white.

Interesting one, I can see why you had trouble getting photos. Thanks for sharing!

It is quite unusual. When the buds were about go into bloom, I couldn't make out where the spur and where the dorsal sepal were.

The curved protrusion on top of the flower is the spur. It is not a typical looking spur. Don't know what kind of pollinator could perform such a feat of getting to the nectary. I'm thinking it might be bat pollinated, not sure.

It is closely allied to Comparettia and Scelochilus.
