Tolumnia triquetrum? Male
Default Tolumnia triquetrum?

Ok, so I have the Oncidium Orchid Species Culture book by the Bakers and they do not have an official triquetrum for the Tolumnia section. However, they referrenced it as an AKA for Olgasis triquetra. When I read the description, it sounds right on. However, I'm confused what this means. Isn't Tolumnia triquetrum now officially recognized? I thought it was since I bought it from Andy's Orchids and I know they try hard to keep up with the current names - but I do know how some can just slip by as well so there is no blame game going on here, lol...

I'm also curious what kind of light I should be giving it (in regards to footcandles) as the Baker's are silent on that note.

You should call Harry or Andy @ Andy's and ask them. They love to talk about their orchids.

The correct name is Tolumnia triquetra. In their natural habitat they receive nearly direct sun, and need Cattleya light.

Paul, I treat my tolumnia like one of my large oncydiums...lots of drink and feeding...bright shady light...and warmth(80F day; 65F night)...no rest periods even in winter
