My Oncidium orchid mix is made with:
•Small Coconut Husk Chips
•Small Sponge Rock - Perlite
•Small charcoal
•Small lava rock
•Rice Hulls = you can order online
Choose an orchid mix blend has small particle ingredients = this will allow delicate root systems to grow and is designed to promote effective nutrient uptake because of increased root contact with the medium.
The coconut chips must be soaked and prewashed twice…if possible filter; wash and clean them as many times as necessary until there is no more dark color in the water to be sure the finished product is in the best possible condition for use.
One coffee mug full each media and make sure to dry any leftover mix very well before storage. Then just soak it overnight before potting again.
