Yes that is very true, "every cloud has a silver lining". I will stay optimistic and count my blessings whatever I end up with.

I guess I came to this thread rather late.
So was it a spike? I thought it was given the position it was coming from, but you never know until it reaches a certain size.

It did indeed turn out to be another pbulb but that is good as I now have two young pbulbs on the way so next year I should have quite a show!

Any new growth is always nice. And you are right, a bigger show when they mature!

Thank you for the update, Susie.
I have something simliar to Tahoma Glacier, but has no tag, so not really sure what it is.
Mine has two spike per pb. Did yours have two spike per pb as well? can you post a flower picture if you have one? I just want to see what it looks like and compare with mine.
You have two new growth, so you will have lots of flowers coming in the near future!

By the way, I like how plump and nice your pb look in the picture. I water mine quite well, but somehow it is getting that crease on the pb. I don't like to see those personally, but the plant is healthy and pretty overall.

One more note, I have a miltonidium feckle face Wham Blam that did simliar thing to what yours is doing. There was this pointy new growth coming out between one leaf and pb. I was almost certain it was another spike given the position. Well, it turned out to be a new plant. That was back in July and now it is mature and sending up its own flower spike. Yay!!!!

Well lucky you for getting a flower already. Mine don't look like they will have any for a long time yet!! But when they do it will be worth it . I think this is capable of producing two spikes per pbulb -or even more actually, but I have only had one so far. I bought it on it's last legs as flowering was almost over so I don't know what it is capable of yet but I am hopeful that I will have some beautiful blooms next year.

My pbulb is nice a fat I think that is because I have it in sphag and it just loves it as do all of my oncids. A wrinkly pbulb could be too much or not enough water.

Default Thank you, Susie!

I think yours look like Tahoma Glacier "Green" ?
I have no idea what mine is, could be Tahoma Glacier "Sugar Sweet" or Pacific Pastel I think, but not sure. I had a thread on the Identification section here, but most people suggested that if there's no tag, then nearly impossible to tell. lol

Mine is potted in moss as well, and I maybe be keeping it too wet. Wrinkling is just slight so far.

Regarding my miltonidium, it grows very quickly and flowers twice or three times a year. I think if I can keep it warm enough during the winter, it will even flower more than three times a year. Everytime new pb is mature, it will send up flower spike. one per pb, but it produces quite a bit of flowers. I might start a new thread on it when the spike matures and flowers open up. but it's a rather small plant with a very very tall spike and look like a giant sized Dancing Lady with red brown dots on the petals.

By the way, Susie, can you tell me how to include a large picture in the text like you did?

Your oncids look very nice and healthy. My pic is a Beallara Tahoma Glacier. I love it and it smells good too.

In regards to taking pictures, look for RosieC's posts and she will explain all of the various different types of posting pics that are available. I am a techno phobe so I wouldn't want to confuse you or get it wrong.
