Odontocidium Floral Factor 'Rayna' (in bloom)
Odontocidium Floral Factor 'Rayna'
-intergeneric hybrid between Odontoglossum Venilia x Odontocidium Wildcat. This beauty produces spikes of striking white flowers speckled with brilliant maroon spots, all neatly outlining a huge attractive lip. True to Oncidium orchids, this hybrid enjoys bright window sill south exposure and good drainage, but I wait to nearly dry out between watering.
I potted this on glass drilled with 1/2 inch holes ... so I can monitor the roots and see if the middle part media have dried ...then I can water
This is its first bloom since I got it last spring.

Bud -
Great flower, don't normally like spots but there is something about this one that just pulls me in. Good growing!

Thanks Kim, Glen and Mary !!!!
its easy to drill holes on glass...
you can go to YouTube, theres several good videos on that and I purchsed a $12 1/2 diameter diamond coated drill bit ...used a watersoaked sponge to touch the drill so it doesnt overheat or immerse the glass on a basin with 1mm surface level and drill away...if possible use the battery drill...electricity and water dont mix well...

Bud,
Are these blooms older and fading?
If not, I would virus test this plant. The light purple coloration mostly on the veining of the sepals is quite blotchy/irregular.
Furthermore, the blooms look crippled.
I know you have some amazing plants in your collection but unfortunately it only takes one that you bring in which might affect them all.

Thanks, White Rabbit!
@Eyebabe, this has just opened and I must have sprayed it with the hose and blotched the flowers. I just didnt realize never to spray the blooms with water force...and the photography with my iPhone blurs when the wind moves the flowers; hence the fading effect of the colors...otherwise now that it has fully opened its blooms...it has perked up and majestically presented itself...
I got worried with your viral advice and did a testing with crushing one petal to the packet and the strip result color, it is negative.
I invested on several testers from Ebay @$10 and so far I have no viral infection with any of my plants. I make it a point to isolate new arrivals and make sure no bugs come inside my apartment nor any fungal or bacterial infestation by spraying each leaf with physan20 and next day with my bug mix with cinammon and soap...only then will they join the lineup on my windowsill
