I wonder about that too. The first year I had mine I changed it from bark to LECA which I think was too drastic of a change and I did not give it the best zygo treatment and it was covered with black spots and blotches.
Last year I tried to be more consistant with the watering and it seemed to adjust to the LECA.
This year it is doing much better.
Also it is in an area of my greenhouse where it gets spray from the misters and so far, no spots.

This plant is my orchid growing challenge.

Well I'm succeeding at present but who knows what I'll find when I check it next time.
That's what's been so frustrating for me with this plant.

Good luck with yours!

the brown spotting you typically get on zygo's and brassias could be from being too hot and dry...the leaves will start spotting and get small black freckles that do get larger. More airflow to keep the leaves cool and misting also is fine. I mist mine all the time and have no troubles. If you dont have enough airflow misting is not a good idea as you will spread the black spots. And why you get these on the plants from the greenhouses are they are stuffed so close together they cant breathe.

More fresh air cures a lot of orchid woes.

Mine does get quite good air movement and is not stuffed in close. However it was spotted when I got it from Paramount and theirs are stuffed in close! I have recently put sulfur on the leaves and moved it to a different spot and it gets even more air movement. Definitely no question of it being enough now. I have kept it cool since I have had it.
