I read somewhere here about a good miticide to use, but can't remember it's name. Any one know of one?
By the way, thanks so much for your help everyone.

Malathion works for me. It stinks but doesn't seem to harm my plants. Most of the pesticide bottles will say if they treat mites right on the front. I think End All and a Safer's one and all are found in most Walmarts or similar.

First, regarding the leaf color and light amount, it is misleading. Whethat it be oncidium or phalaenopsis, some plants have lighter green and some have dark green by nature regardless of the light intensity. Some might change the tone of how green they are depending on the light they receive, but general statement like this confuse many beginners.

I grow phals, paph, oncidium under LED. they grow far better than under any setting and flower well.

Now back to the original thread question, whether an oncidium will do well under light or not depends on what oncidium you have. Some need more light than others, so you really have to know what it is before being able to provide the correct light level.

Spider mites,,,if infestation isn't too bad, I would run wet swab along each leaf. Repeat this every three days or so for several weeks. This is how I got rid of them before on broad leafed houseplants. Just an opinion based on my experience. might be too much work for most people I'd have to say though. lol
