Miltonia spectabilis var. moreliana 'Goliath'
This is a plant that I purchased with reservations in August 2010 from Puanani Orchids in Waimanalo, Hawaii. I was not sure I could bloom this plant since I don't normally have good luck with Miltonias. It was a suprise to see the plant in bloom with its intense color and huge flowers. The flowers are nearly 4 inches wide while the lips are 2-3/4 inches wide. The plant is in a 5-inch plastic pot grown in bark.

You shouldn't have any problems growing Miltonias, but Miltoniopsis (pansy orchids) might be a problem (or not).

Mel - No reservations here, you have grown that plant to perfection. Congratulations on a job extremely well done.

Hi Mike. The flowers have a very slight scent--a pleasant scent.
