Default Brassia Dorris Bergstrom

This is one of the infamous Bergstrom Orchids plants I picked up in Hawaii last November. Knowing what I do about Bergstrom's, it could be anything. I have no clue of the parentage. I e-mailed them and asked last week, but have not heard back.

The specifics - the plant is in a 10" waterlily basket and, pretty-much, fills it. There is a new growth on one side and this mature growth/spike on the opposite side. The new growth is sending out roots all over the place and may bloom in November (it was in bloom last November when I purchased it for $5 US!) That's not a typo. It smells like roses and when I moved it into my studio to make the photo, the whole studio smelled of roses. There are 8 blossoms approx 7" from top to bottom.

It looks very much like the one on the Bergstrom website that is listed as Fangtastic

Fangtastic should actually be Odbrs Fangtastic Bob Henley registered by Norman's Orchids in
1999. It is Brs. Rex x Odbrs Kenneth Bivin - so at least they match up the parentage fairly well.

Whatever its called, it really lovely!!

Here is response I got from Bill:

"The Brassia is named after my wife and is a cross between B. longlan and
Walter Birch..who was until his death, a good friend of mine..so when Hilo
Orchid Farm made the cross, I bought them all up..and since I did, James
allowed me to name it..hopefully he has registered it..if not, he
will...Bill" I agree it looks different, but he swore at the time I purchased it, it was Dorris Bergstrom. Who knows. It still smells like roses and I really like it.
