My Brassia now in bloom

My eternal wind just finished blooming a few weeks ago. Here is the spike. My plant has significantly spotted foliage that seems to pass on to each generation of pseudobulbs.

Helen, I must confess that I am not good at fertilizing. I do it when I remember - which may be once a month or maybe two months. I would guess that it depends a lot on what fertilizer you are using. One that is formulated to encourage bloom would probably make the bloom go over more quickly, so reducing this while the plant is flowering would give you a longer display.

Mayres, Mine also has some spots on the foliage. I seem to remember that it was suggested this could be a result of misting. Do you mist the foliage regularly? I have stopped misting mine and the new leaves have yet to develop spots. Though, hopefully, someone with a more experienced eye can look at your photo and tell you whether this is what is going on.

Love it Helen, it's is truly a beautiful flower. Now if I could just get mine to flower, they seem to produce bulbs and healthy foilage, but no flowers. I wonder if they require a longer dry spell after they finish maturing their pseudobulbs.

Finally!! One flower has opened.... so here's a sneak preview:


Brassia Eternal Wind 'Summer Dream'

This plant has three spikes, one on each of the new growths. All told, this plant has 11 pseudobulbs, including a couple very tiny ones from when it was a seedling. I've had this one for two years, and this is the second time its flowered for me.

Very very nice....thanks for sharing...it's nice to see other blooms in the same family!
My leaves have some spots too. I was told from the nursery that it's okay because sometimes orchid leaves take on the spots just like the chocolate spots on the petals/sepals....it's odd, but okay!

Wow! very very nice! The colours are so much richer than mine...I like it a lot! Of course I love mine too.
