New Psychopsis
I just wanted to show off my stunning new psychopsis that arrived in the mail today. All three are in spike, one with a bud:
Psychopsis Mendenhall v alba 'Yellow Butterfly'
Psychopsis Mariposa 'Mountain'
Psychopsis Mendenhall 'Hildos' FCC/AOS
Now I just need to find Psychopsis papillio, Oncidium lanceanum, and a Psychopsiella lemminghei.
Needless to say, I think i have the orchid bug again.

Wow. They look so good. I have a huge (well to me it is) Psychopsis kalihi that bought a couple of months ago with three spikes. It hasn't bloomed yet, but there is a bud forming now. The plants overall height is about three and a half feet.

Love these guys! I just purchased a different one the other day after one of mine bloomed. Congrats, and let us see the blooms when they come!

You see !!! I told you that you wouldn't be able to pretend that you didn't want orchids anymore Little by little they'll be taking over the space.

I was weary about spending the pretty penny these guys cost, but I'm glad I did - they are healthy plants.
The main thing that was keeping me from orchids was the expense. I can't grow the cheap phals/dens/catts. I always kill them. I only have luck with oncs, paphs, cyms, and the like. Which are all $20-30+ a pop.
Though I can say that I see more orchids in my near future.

nice! love the mottled leaved one!
I haven't found most Oncidiums to be too pricey - but have got a number of mine from Trader Joe's, and have found very nice, inexpensive Cyms (tho noids) at Costco
watch for orchid shows in your area, and if possible, go on the last day, and as the time nears closing, prices drop! of course there is less to choose from, but still can find great deals
even before prices go down, I have got some nice plants for not too much $$$ at shows - some vendors have 'show specials', and at the very least, you save on shipping, which adds a lot to the cost when you buy online
nice to see you back!

Thanks!
Would you believe I have never been to an orchid show?! It seems they are always a good hour or two away - being 17, having a job, and not having a car of my own leads to me not going.
Though I'm dying to get to one.
And thanks for the heads up. I've purchased chids from Trader Joe's in the past, but it seems the local one near me only has phals and the occasional dend. And I'd love to have more cyms but I just don't have the room for such huge plants. I have over 100 tropical plants that all have to come into the house over winter so that leaves little room.

aahh - well I've only been to a couple shows - one was in a mall not too far from me, one the big show in San Francisco - my city has an orchid exposition, but I've been without a car too - so difficult to get to them - I know
too bad your TJs doesn't have more variety - I know the HD near me usually only has phals too, but have made some good finds at TJs
hehe - yeah, I bet it's a bit crowded in your house in winter, with all the plants
