Hey there....

I have a bit of a twinkle fixation and I was hoping some of y'all could help me get a few things sorted out in terms of varieties....

I currently have a red form tagged 'Red Fantasy', a yellow form which is only tagged 'Yellow' and another which is only tagged 'Twinkle' and I have yet to see bloom but I was told is white. Just wondering what else is out there?? I have seen several different names such as...

'Snow' - white
'Red Raspberry' - red
'Pink Profusion' - is this REALLY pink??
'Fragrance Fantasy' - white
'White Showers' - white

Basically I'm wondering if these are all basically the same 'chid just with different names?? The white forms all seem to have yellow centers (the lip?) and I would love to have a white with pink/red center... anyone seen one?? Heres a couple pics of my 'Red Fantasy' from the last time it bloomed....

Cheers!!

Who wouldn't love these? They're so cute, and some smell like chocolate!

Yep!! The scent of this one is what got me hooked on the twinkles to begin with. Strangely enough the yellow one hardly smells at all so I'm interested in whether the white one will have a scent or not. They're also my most reliable re-bloomer so far... and the leaves stay nice and compact so if you're short on space (like me) they're great!!

BTW... if anyone has a good close up of 'Pink Profusion' or 'Red Raspberry' please SHARE!!

I have a 'Pink Profusion', but no pix of the blooms - to me, it's closer to red than pink, but I suppose you could call it a deep, dusky pink - flowers are smaller than my 'Fragrance Fantasy'

So does your Pink Profusion look much different than the pics of my Red Fantasy?? Fragrance Fantasy has white petals and a yellow lip right?? Feeling totally confused on the whole variety name thing.... was trolling orchids on ebay today (a VERY bad idea BTW) and saw a couple twinkles (red and yellow) that had variety names I'd never seen before (Red Fire and Sunlight). They looked pretty much the same as the ones I have but without seeing 'em in person I guess I can't really be sure... do sellers/growers just make up names randomly or what?!?

hard for me to say, since I don't have a pic of my 'Pink Profusion' in bloom ... I do know the blooms seemed especially tiny, but only had the 'Fragrance Fantasy' for comparison. From memory, I would guess the color looked similar to your 'Red Fantasy'

Hmmmm.... I'm starting to think they're all basically the same just with different names. Both my red and yellow Twinkles are in spike right now so maybe you'll be seeing some blooms soon too!!

I imagine there are differences, tho may be subtle - flower, plant size, fragrance, subtle color differences

congrats on spikes!
