Psychopsis Papilio
Ok, so I finally waited for this to bloom, as each time I posted on a bud, it blasted. So, here after much ado is my Psy. papilio that I have lovingly named George...

Really nice!
I was not keen on these original but when I saw one in real life I saw a whole new beauty in them and love the pictures of them now. Quite a mesmerising flower.

Great bloom! Nice that it finally managed to hang on to a bud. Did you figure out what was causing the blasting, or did the problem just fix itself?
I'm patiently waiting for mine to bloom. The spike is already 28 inches long right now, with no sign of a bud yet...

These are my wife's favourites. Very nice.
PS, it does look like a George.

I enjoyed blooms on mine sequentially for about two years and then it died. It just up and bit the dust for no apparent reason. So what did I do, I bought another one. No spikes yet but I am hopeful.

Camille, actually I didn't change a thing. Granted it warmed up significantly during that period in the house and likely by the windows. That said I just let it do it's thing. Now it's got a great bloom, and a new growth just starting. Glad I didn't change anything.
Tindo, to your point, I agree. I saw the bloom, and it just said "George" Just looked right
Jerry, it wouldn't surprise if these guys could bloom themselves to death, but you're the first I've heard directly on it. But, like you, if they bite the dust, just scrape the dust back together and pony up some more money for a new one!

Hey George, you did good!
My "Georges" are all blossoming too.
They sure are pretty and a great conversation starter.
