new purchase
So I got my shipment from Cloud's the other day. Everything arrived in great condition, they deleted (due to it not being up to their standards), added a plant, and did a refund for difference after shipping. When I opened the package I thought it would just be plants, I was thrilled to get two plants in spike, and so well packed they were not even damaged in any way that I have seen.
One of the plants is Onc. Red Sunset ''Cloud's Butterscotch" (Golden Sunset x Roselle). I think it's adorable.
First and second pictures taken the day it arrived shortly after unpacking (3/5/2011). Last two photos taken on Tuesday.
Any tips on care, I grow under lights 150hps, its getting misted heavily in the morning, and again usually in the afternoon lightly. The lights go out about midnight, so it should be fairly dry since its mounted also. Temps are in the mid 70's, and humidity at a guess is 30 to 50 % where its at.

I bought 8 chids, Bc. (Little Stars x Maikai) "Hawaii", Bc. Maikai "Louise" AM/AOS, Dtps. Fuller's Miss(other plant that was in spike, flower is just opening up today), Dtps. Purple Martin "Tzuchiang" x Dor pulcherrima v. coerul, L. pumila x B. nodosa (removed not to their standard), Tolumnia pulchella, Vanda suavis, and the free one was Epc. Kyoguchi "Fumi" plus the Oncid in original post. I'm supposed to be buying kitchen stuff for the reno but they were so cute and just called to me... Its my treat for all the hard work we'll be doing this summer.

Possibly one that has been reclassified at a guess. I really don't know for certain, I can't take any credit for growing it yet, but I do hope to keep it alive long enough to bloom again...

looks like a Tolumnia to me for sure. Some Tolumnia hybrids are sometimes tagged as Oncidiums.
L. pumila x B. nodosa! that is the one I would be most curious and eager about! I would be happy with a substandard one!

I got my order from Cloud's 10 days ago, and the plants were so well packed, the spike of the tolumnia did not abort. I also got the epicatt. as a freebie. I'm so glad that they are this side of the border.

I just wish wish we had access to ALL the varieties available in the States, at the prices they get or even close to them. I love that we do have some really good sellers in Canada, they are just few and far between as my mum would say.
I agree about their packing skills, mine didn't blast either, and the other one is opening up fine too. I'll just have to try for the L. pumila x B. nodosa again, and hope that mother nature doesn't send a wind storm thru again.

Your Onc. Red Sunset is listed as a Tolumnia in OrchidWiz. Culture notes indicate it requires bright indirect light and cool to intermediate temps. Water every day or every other day while in active growth but must dry out quickly. With yours mounted, it will likely dry plenty fast!
Very nice haul of plants. I haven't ordered from Clouds for a while and have been resisting the urge but...
