Growing Miltonia's

Wow Just discovered Miltonia's and what charter they have. What type of growing conditions do they need? Iam in hot and sticky South Florida. I really like
Milt. Herbert Johnson 'Salmon Yellow' X Milt. Lilac Time
And
Milt. Lorene 'Black Rain'

Dave, from what I understand, the Milts are a bit more difficult for us warm-growers. Not that it can't be done, because I've seen some beauties down here but I think it takes more effort to accomplish it.

I'd LOVE for somebody to tell me I'm wrong on this one

These beauties are now called miltoniopsis.
They like cool weather and good ventilation.

Yes, the problem is that they don't like extremes of temperatures. The ideal probably is 60-75 F ! But with very good humidity you have a higher change of sucess.

Although they are hybrids of Miltoniopsis they maintain the name Miltonia for hybrids.

They are really pretty. Sometimes I buy one or two but due to our extreme hot temperature in the summer I can't maintain them more than 3 years in good conditions. But 3 years of extreme beauty!
