Brassia Gilded Urchin (Shooting Star) opening!
After a long wait, it has decided to start opening one of it's flowers! YEAH! I'll take pictures as soon as it opens and post them!

As promised - here is the first bloom that opened today. When I came home I found two others opening up as well! YIPPEE!!!

I've heard of gilding the lily, but I've never seen a gilded urchin! Sorry, bad joke. Sometimes I'm just so punny I can't help myself.

So far I have not detected any scent, and I don't remember them having one last year when I bought it in bloom. I'm saddened by that, but it's still a very cool bloom in my book.

I find that mine smells like wood smoke, but you have to be up close and personal (nose right in there) to really smell it. They tend to last for quite a while too. So enjoy those lovely flowers.
