Default Any Rossioglossum experts out there?

I am hoping someone can give me some tips on how to get my Rossioglossum to do something. I have had it for 1 1/2 years now. It's Rossioglossum Rawdon Jester. It's a nice looking plant with 3 or 4 pseudobulbs that have leaves and several without. Last summer it grew it's most recent and largest one and then it had a coolish winter with less moisture in the greenhouse. Days were 65F and night went to 55F. Pretty much the same as the winter before. So now the days are longer and the temps somewhat warmer and it is just sitting doing nothing. It has not changed one bit since last fall. I have stepped up the watering to go with the warmer temps and longer days. I am growing it under T5 lights but it is in a nice bright very airy greenhouse. There is what looks like a small node at the base of the newest mature PB but it hasn't changed in 6 months. I read that you shouldn't increase water until new growth starts in the spring, but since there is no new growth I thought I had better try and induce it.

Does anyone grow these and have any tips to offer? I also have a Rossioglossum Grande. It is growing under similar conditions and has produced two new growths from the last mature PB. They have been growing for the last few months! Not that its bloomed for me yet either tho

Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Silken,

I have Rossioglossum Grande. I bought it last year and it came with a new growth which became very big and healthy but no flowers. It1s had a node since october ( just like you mentioned) recently that turned into a new growth so i am hoping it will flower this autumn. I keep my one in a warm and sunny room when the sun is too strong I provide some shame and i gave him strong sunshine during winter and very little water. I hope it helps as i am not really expert on these orchids. good luck,

Thanks ajdamania2. I would have thought a new growth would start by now too and the little node is there, but just sitting dormant. Not sure how to kick start it. I had sort of hoped for a bloom this spring from the Rawdon Jester as some say it is more likely to bloom in spring with the williamsianum parent, but I would even settle for a new growth
