Default Two new oncidiums

I bought 2 oncidiums, Oncidium hookeri and Onc. pubes, without knowing much about them.
They are imported from south America and seldom grown here.
The nursery keeper just told me that they are all easy plants to deal with and they both do well in our humid subtropical weather.
Do oncidium lovers here grow these two species?
Could you please give me some ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Usually Oncidium types like bright light, humidity, and also enjoy drying out completely(in my experience they rot easily if overwatered). So if you live in a naturally humid environment, you probably don't need to water more than once a week, maybe even less.
For me orchid bark mixes are best with this type.

Hi

Tim gave you a good advice, but I want to stress some points

I don't have these Oncs, but have anothers similar in culture. Don't know your weather, so you have to adapt the tip to your setup.

The best advice someone can give you (my opinion, of course) is that they like frequent watering when in grow but with excellent drainage (As Tim said).

You must be sure that they dry fast, ensure a wet/dry cycle of 2-3 days. In my setup I do that by mounting them or with the use of very coarse pieces of bark.

They also need a dry season in winter.

Thank you, Tricho.
In fact, I am afraid that high night temperature would weaken the plants from highlands.
That is why i have not grown Lycaste, Miltoniopsis and other similar orchid species so far.
I know that Onc. hookeri is from the high mountains in Brazil and seldom information on the Internet that i could found.
Now, i would follow both your culture tips. Hope they will grow happily here.
