Default A Trio of Miltoniopsis!

It looks like its Miltoniopsis season since a number of mine are either in bloom or in spike. Here are the three that are on the go right now. I just noticed today I have another one with 2 spikes on the same pseudobulb, but it will be a while before they are in bloom.

From left to right these are Milt. Hawaiian Waters '#72 x #3', Milt. Rouge 'Burgundy Blush' and Milt. Jean Carlson 'Desire'

Thanks help. They do well in cooler conditions, but the main thing is they don't like the heat. They can take a few hours of 85 or 90F so long as they have good humidity and air movement and can cool off at night. They also should be re-potted yearly as they hate stale media. They should never completely dry out. I really like them and don't find them too fussy.

Quick question...Do you know if Aussie Gold orchid medium is okay for miltoniopsis or if I need to get a different medium?

I'm not familiar with Aussie Gold mix. I went on their site and it doesn't specifically mention miltoniopsis, but it looks like it is good for keeping things moderately moist which is what milts like. For my own growing situation, I use mostly New Zealand Sphagnum mixed with a bit of bark, chunky perlite and charcoal mixed and they seem to really like it. Ive only been growing milts for 2 years and my first few that were mostly in bark with a bit of sphag mixed in didn't do as well, until I put them in my current mix. Now I have quite a few new growths, roots and blooms But everyone's situation differs.

They looks really beautiful. I love the Milts., but none of mine rebloomed this season. I think I understand why now after reading your posts. I'll be changing them up today. How much light do you give yours?

BTW, I just bought a new one, Milt. Maul Malden. a fragrent deep purlple waterfall, lighter purple center and a white edge. About a week away from opening up fully.

Mine did very poorly in AG media and I don't recommend it for this group.
