Thanks King. I may have to see if any of them are more tolerant of cool winters or create a microclimate for it and several other plants that could maybe benefit from warmer temps. My orchids grow in a greenhouse that is heated, but kept cooler than a home over winter.

Nice pick Silken, but I wouldn't hold my breath watching that spike grow. My papilio took a solid 2-3 months for the spike to stop growing, then another month or so for the bloom. Not sure how long the bloom lasts as mine was attacked by some canine friends. But as to the slow growing, that's for sure. My new leaf took nearly 6 months to start forming the pseudobud

Well here is a few pics of the Psychopsis Mendenhall 'Hildos' with its first bloom. As you can see from the date-- this took almost 4 months from first spike to bloom. and it was so worth the wait.

When I left for the July 4th weekend I took a pic of the bud that was forming--- when I returned 5 days later, I had the flower opening...
