I'm going to take your suggestion and try and pot one up with a few pieces of bark and leave the other in the terra cotta and see which one does better.
Thanks for all of the help! When I picked up the plants they'd just arrived on the truck so maybe I'll have some luck with them. I'm also going to do some work with the toothbrush on 'em. Maybe I'll get lucky and miss out on all the bugs and disease! I've got a nice area for quarantine so at least my other plants'll be safe
