6K footcandles! That IS quite a lot of light!
Like littlefrog, I've found I can grow them in very strong light (or even less than ideal light) if they get a chance to adjust. The leaves WILL get very dark green, and even develop a bronze tinge when they are at optimal light. You do need to be careful not to burn them.
Make sure you have good airflow -- you might even need to set up a little fan. It's not just a matter of the plants drying out quickly, they do best with a steady breeze around the roots. I think it helps them not overheat in the strong sunlight.
