Spike or Leaf???? Male
Default Spike or Leaf????

this is a onc. maureen x onc. haematochilum i rescued that was TOTALLY dried up and black from lowes in july, it has a couple of new leafs since then, always on the back side of an existing leaf, now this is coming up from the front side of a leaf and just seems different to me to how the leaves started. I am a total newbie so be forgiving but i sure love the info and togetherness feeling of this forum......thanks a ton, t bone

Great rescue! According to the RHS this plant is now Trichocentrum Ollie Palmer.
I think it's a leaf, my spikes have never started with spots but my leaves do.

I have the same cross and it's a favorite of mine. The flowers are very fragrant. I have to agree with previous posts. It looks like a leaf to me.

I got the same one in bad shape at Lowes. It is growing new roots. SOme leaves were a bit wrinkled and damaged. I wonder how fast it can grow new ones. Also any advice about light, media and watering? The roots are so much thicker than any other Oncidium I have...
