The longest spike I have ever had was in excess of 4 feet long.

I had it at an outdoor show when the winds went to 40MPH. The spikes then really make the butterfly 'fly' without any danger of breaking the spike.

My longest one is almost 4 feet long
Thank you

They are in 30% sphagnum, 30% small bark,30% perlite and rest charcoal, I have read in many places that they dont like to be repotted much, they have slightly sensitive root systems, I only reppoted them once like 2 years ago.

Ysa I have always heard that Oncidium Psychosis Mendenhall and Oncidium Papiliio hate to have their roots disturbed also. My experience is the same as yours and I have only repotted twice in about 4 years now. I currenly have 3 spikes on my Mendenhall and those flowers are a great and frequent favorite of mine!
