You need to watch it every day when it is ready to throw off spikes. Catch them before they snap.
I learned too late, 2 of 3 broke off, luckily one didn't get stuck!

Default Brassia Shooting Star

I got one a couple of months ago, but my experience has been with Phals and Dends. Can anyone tell me about any special care requirements Brassias have that's different from the others? Also, where do the flower stems emerge from?

Michael

I treat mine like Oncidiums. Mine hasn't bloomed this year so I forget where they spike from.....

Default colour

Hi,
i just got one these lovely orchids, and i'm a bit confused about the colour names. mustard refers to the more green-looking one and black gold is the more yellowy one?
