Miltoniopsis Maui Charm has re-bloomed for me for the first time! - Orchid Board

Hey! it seems I have managed to get an orchid in this alliance to re-bloom!

Actually, both this and an Onc Sharry Baby 'Sweet Fragrance' opened arround the same time so that's two in the alliance which are my first reblooms.

I've had trouble gauging watering on this plant, and so have crinkled leaves on both the growth that has flowered and another new but larger one behind. Despite that I have had really good root growth this year and seems happy.

The first 3 pics, along with the avatar I've been using were taken two weeks ago but I didn't get arround to posting them. I've now taken a couple more since more flowers have opened.

i like that one! i wish i could grow them! i think it may be too warm here though

Great growing--they are so beautiful and I am so jealous! I have the same issue with my mtssa, I am terrified of over watering and end up under watering and crinkled leaves. I got a humidifier this year and the leaves look better, so I think I am getting a handle on things.

Wow! I love the color. These are a real challenge for me. I have crinkled leaves too - although I'm getting better and the whole evenly moist thing so the newer leaves are less crinkled. No spikes this fall

Thanks everyone. I really don't know what I'm doing with these (still unsure about every p-bulb type orchid) so I was really suprised when I got such a good flowering from it. Like Judi has said, I'm afraid to overwater and so end up underwatering.

I repotted it in April and the root mass was solid with roots. I broke that open a lot and then it went in a clear pot and I have seem massive root growth since.

Someone, I think it might have been Hedge, advised me that they do best with water run through the pot, and not dunking them in water. I have been doing that since, and I think it's good advice. By doing this the media does not get so thoroughly soaked and dries in the center quicker, meaning you can water more often. The growths I've seen since has been uncrinkled... might be coincidence or might not, but I'm going to carry on that way for now.

Evan, this was grown in an east windowledge. I put most of the p-bulb based orchids out in the greenhouse for the summer but for some reason this one didn't go with them (not sure I had a reason except that it seemed happy where it was).

I will definitely remember this piece of advise next time I get a Milt. I was given one about 2 years ago & ended up killing it & have not dared buy another..
