Ditto....mine looks like a hedge, new growths like crazy...but for 2 1/2 years, not a flower...spike...nothing. Too bad shipping to Washinton would be too expensive, it's next move is the burning pit.

Lol. That's too bad, but I've composted my share of orchids too. In fact out of five rescue plants I was given, this brassia is the only one I kept. The others didn't catch my attention enough to make them worth the effort to rehabilitate.

Great job by the way Evan! Nice flowers & I'm jealous. I was told at our last orchid meeting by a very experienced grower that I've probably been babying it too much and to let it dry out....as in for a good few weeks with no water...so that will be my next step prior to putting it in the burn pit! It also spent some time in the cooler garage, a dark closet....etc...etc at others advise. Will neglect for a while and see what happens!!

Thank you!

And Brenda, a little controlled stress seems to be the key for a lot of orchids. Before I got my Brassia, it was receiving very poor care and was probably under a lot of stress, particularly drought stress if the pseudobulbs are any indication. When I got it, it received better care for about a year, but still a little on the dry side because I got a little bit of pleating on the new leaves. Then it bloomed! Keep trying different things and find what works!
