Need potting advice for my new Psychopsis papilio
I've been busy busy busy lately, but not so busy as to forget about orchids! Got some new ones yesterday, one of which being a very nice and healthy BS Psychopsis.
One thing I'm not sure about is whether or not to leave it potted as it is. It's in a net pot with medium bark, which is set inside a clear plastic pot. I don't know if the clear pot is just there to keep it from toppling over or so maintain some humidity. I know these guys hate being disturbed, so I don't want to repot it without getting some advice first!

Can't help I'm afraid Camille, I think I would be inclined to leave it but I don't really know.

I would leave it Camille unless it is putting out new roots. When you do re-pot, keep it in as small a pot as possible (same one?)

It looks pretty happy to me. I know several growers who have switched to net pots and they love them. I'm thinking of trying some next year. I'm sure I'll have to adjust my watering schedule a little to accomidate the fast drying. I usually wait until Spring to do my repotting unless a plant is really in trouble with broken down medium. Good luck.

Thanks. I think I'll let it be for the moment, as it does seem to be growing quite happily in the net pot and the medium looks fresh. Lots of new roots too. I have to look at it every day until I get a feel for the watering schedule it needs, since it dries out really fast!

I have been asking for advice on these as well. From what I have been told, they don't really like being messed with. I am waiting until I can't wait any longer.

Sorry, I am waiting to repot (mess with it) until I absolutely have to. I don't want to lose it by repotting too soon.

Disrupt as little as possible , drying between watering is good ,if kept to wet and rot starts they do it from the inside out with out visible signs on the outside . Hope this helps a little ..
That is really a nice one Cam
