Default Belleara Purple Haze "Jimi Hendrix"

been trying to stay away from the grocery store noids..I love them all the same I just have too many of them.

This is a Belleara I found in a one man orchid greenhouse I stumbled on in some small out of the way place.

Surfing small orchid shops around your town for odd plants is fun anyway. I got to talking with this man and such a nice nice man he was. I think I even found me some greenhouse space for rent/trade cheap for some cleaning and mowing, painting etc. etc. and I can hang out and learn something too maybe

jimi in the window excuse me while I kiss the sky

Very nice. I would have bought it just because of the name. LOL

hehe - me too I've been tempted a few times by this one, but due to my lack of space I'm trying to restrain myself ... *sigh*

Very nice find and those flowers are big. Of course, I like the name too.

What's that in the photo behind and to the lower left. Looks like a Brassia. I like that one too.

I LOVE this plant and just happen to have gotten one myself this past March. The blooms lasted very long and I must say I have weeds in my yard that are growing with less vigor than Jimmy dear.
Congrats!

A couple of things...

Who created this hybrid? There is a local grower who hinted it was him (kaler orchids)

And, two, all the "Purple Haze" I saw had the purple blush at the bottom of the lip. Did yours have it?

Very nice find.

I have a hard time growing oncidiinae. They all decline over the summer and eventually perish.

they need lots and lots of water if you dont keep them wet the start to shrink and degrade, Rainwater!!! more rain water!!! I am noob..when i asked the greenhouse about the jimi he said he bought some at an orchid show several years ago and really couldnt remember many details other than the tagged info ... and the purple blush is there too...it just started 2 more new growths and needs more water!!!
