Hi Eyebabe... are you talking to me or Wreb? If me, I do have it in bark, with spag only on the top 1/4 inch. I could go smaller, but it has sent off two happy new shoots already in this pot and I wonder if going smaller is really necessary?

Yes, Lady
Sorry, did not know you had it in bark "below"
I have not used sphag on the the top of my oncidiums; so I can't comment one way or another with that.
They are suppose to be watered "just as the media starts to dry" so I don't know how having the two media affects this. OrchidWiz states the most common media is fir bark.
When I bought my twinkle the nursery owner told me they like to be "tight" in the pot; and yours looks like it has a good bit of room....so in seeing that and thinking the whole thing was in sphag...well,

Thanks D for the info I do have a pot I could downsize it in if it would be happier, I just went up to the size I did have considering it was in the tiniest thing possible when I got it I was letting it make up for lost time, ahaha. It definetly is not tight in the pot, but it does have some room for it's roots to breath.

Also, I don't think you were in error in assuming it was in spag, I don't think I said, and from the looks of it, it certainly does look it I just put spag on the top to help with some moisture control, as we are in extremely dry and have under 20% humidity on average, so I feel sorry for the poor things. I don't know if it helps much, but it at least makes me feel better, lol.
