And such a tiny plant! Anyone that says they can't possibly fit another orchid in their home/greenhouse hasn't discovered Tolumnias. Think of all the places you could fit a 1" terra cotta pot...

I discovered them about 2 months ago and it was one of those "good news and bad news" kind of things. I told my husband the good news: I found an orchid that is super tiny and doesn't take up a lot of space... Then I told him the bad news: ...so I bought 10 of them.

I don't think he's a huge fan of the Tolumnia!

Very pretty blooms! I love the vibrant pink!

10! Grasshopper, you're my hero.

Hey, since you've got more than a few of these in your collection, how often do you wind up watering yours? Do you water as soon as the Tol is bone dry or do you give it a few days of dryness?

I'm afraid that mine might be getting too little water.

Thanks!

Ever so slightly in the evening - but you have to get inappropriately close to the flower in order to detect a scent.

I have them potted in 1" clay pots with charcoal (just to stabilze them in the pot). I water them every morning, unless I'm running late. I quickly dunk the whole pot in the water and set them back on the drip tray in the windowsill. Voila!...watering is done. FYI...I fertilize weakly on Sundays.

The room they're growing in maxes out at 84 degrees F in the afternoon and drops to a balmy 74 degrees F at night. The humidity ranges from 46% in the evening to around 60% during the day. I worry with the heat and not so high humidity that they will dry out too much. With summer approaching and bringing with it higher humidity levels, I might be able to switch to watering every other day.

I probably should have just started with 1 or 2 instead of 10 because I don't really know what I'm doing, but I see new roots growing in, so I must be doing something right!
