Burrageara Nelly Isler 'Swiss Beauty' AM/AOS
This little beauty started opening yesterday, what a show! The camera doesn't do it justice. When the flowers open they are a deep velvety red. Can't wait for the scent to start.

Good growing!
One of my favorites. Just wish I could keep them alive.

I see there are two Burr. Nelly Isler posts going, so I thought I would also post here too. Sorry for any inconvenience.
I just acquired a Burr. Nelly Isler 'Swiss Beauty'. One location on the internet says it is Cochlioda x Miltonia x Odontoglossum x Oncidum, and yet another states it is:
Oncidium, Miltoniopsis and Vuylstekeara.
I realize that combining an Odontonia hybrid with a Cochlioda becomes Vuylstekeara....What I'd like to know is, what is the PROPER or official way to describe it, or does it matter?
Also this one was awarded, so is it okay to note the award on MY plant?

Gorgeous. Mine has just started dropping it's flowers the last few days having been open for AGES.
The fragrance can be quite strong (at least it was from mine).

Hi Rosie, when I bought it last year it had an incredible scent, which filled most of the house, almost citris-like, am still waiting for it, possibly in a week. Seem to have read somewhere that the scent on flowers only comes out when the pollin is ripe and ready for pollination, so I am still hoping!

Ooh, that's interesting! I didn't know that about the scent. My first one smelled pretty bad at times of the day - kind of like cat pee. I was worried for a while that something had got into the house - but then realised what it was! But it changed as the new flowers opened, and became a lot more pleasant but like yours it was very powerful!

I've not seen Stefan Isler but I know it's one of the parents of Nelly Isler. Be sure to show us pics Melissa.
