What a beautiful orchid this one is! And the fragrance is out of this world wonderful! I am prepairing a Easter Sunday display of all my blooming orchids. It should be a really nice set up. I'll shoot some pictures to show off my stuff.

But back to this new orchid I just got. Any clues to culture for this one? Cooler, wetter and dimmer? If so, I have a perfect spot for this one to grow larger.

A coupel quick shots as I don't have time to set up a full on background a lighting set up.

And one when I had nothing else to shoot, so I messed with long exposure times and the zoom of the 24-70 f2.8L.

That'a a gorgeous Miltoniopsis and great pictures of it.

I'm still struggling with Miltoniopsis a bit, but mine has started growing well since a move to an east window with some of my Phals. I'm also keeping it on the drier side, again watering it when I water the Phals and it's getting quite dry between waterings. Originally I thought these should be kept damper but I've been advised that they don't like to be too wet (actually I've been advised that they are very picky about watering amount).

Thanks folks, I'm going to keep it in my Eastern bathroom window area same as my very large Harlequin Phal that like a bit more light. It stays pretty humid in there with the morning showers. I'll not water it as much as I was thinking. I'll take it easy and see how it likes the new window.

Thanks!

I would water according to your climate. Rosie, since you live in England, I assume you have relatively high humidity, so keeping them drier works for you. California is a little drier, so plants there need to be kept more moist.

Chas, I am guessing that Colorado has very low humidity (from what little I know of Colorado, that is) so you might want to keep yours more on the moist side. Though the humidity in the bathroom might negate that, depending on how humid it is. But in either case don't keep it sopping wet.

Alrighty then, that's some good advice as well. What does it mean to make "accordians?" I have noticed that one leaf on this Milt. has that going on and it also seems to happen on my Onc. 'Rustic Spots' from time to time. I thought it was because of over feeding. Does it have to do with watering on these orchids?

yes - 'accordian' pleats (horizontal pleating of foliage) can be caused by underwatering ...

hehe - it happens - it's better than rotted roots, and at least the plant tells you it is needing more water ...
To me it can be difficult in winter - getting the watering right - not over-watering and still avoiding the pleated foliage.
