I don't think the yellows are necessarily any more difficult to bloom. Perhaps they might be a bit weak as far as growing is concerned. They are based on line breeding of M.satanae and M.roezlii alba, and strong color has always been a problem. The recent discovery of the pure yellow roezlii should provide a great future source of rich color.
The yellows have been bred with strong growing whites to bring some vigor into the strain, but they lose color in the process. Linebreeding often brings the desired traits along with negative traits.
