Default Should Tolumnia be Blooming?

I have 3 different tolumnia. (popoki "mitzi', genting peach, and genting sunshine) All with good growth, get plenty of light, not over-watered, and seem happy. O yea, I've havn't got them to rebloom yet. I've only had them for just about a year. Shouldn't they be in bloom now? Is there anything like a temp. drop to initiate a spike? Any help appreciated. Thanks

I have four tolumnias. One is genting peach. Only one of them blooms now. The other three bloom in August, when they are getting enough light that is. The one that is blooming as we speak is red berry. The others are genting orange, and sniffen. Carol

My tolumnia just survive during the Northeast winters in a southern exposure. They'll grow roots and maybe start a new fan. I can only get them to flower by putting them out in the full sun(gradually) in the summer. They are the 'Gentling' hybrids.

I found all three of mine would not bloom until I pushed the light to the point where the foliage turned a dark reddish purple. I grow under T5 florescent lights, and they hang just a few inches below the bulbs. Now they bloom like crazy. I'd guess the issue might be lack of sufficient light.

I've got one that already is that color and refuses to bloom. In my case, I'm wondering if perhaps I'm not watering enough -- perhaps keeping them too dry.

I have about 15 different tols now. All of my hybrids are blooming now or spiking. The species, not so much. Just killed another Bahamense, and my Prionochila is just barely hanging on.

I think when the hybrids are commercially grown, they are ever bloomers. It's just when a a novice brings them home, it's hard to replicate those exact growing conditions. You basically need a terrarium set up to get maximum results, and that's hard with theirs long spikes.

Both of mine are blooming now. They live in small clay pots sitting on the south windowsill of my kitchen - Genting Sunshine and Shannon Elizabeth. I believe light is the issue, introduce them to more light gradually. In the winter, I am watering them every other or every third day.
