Not very many Miltoniopsis fans?

I've recently found the spot in my house that at least one Miltoniopsis seems to like. It put out a new lead growth (first growth I've ever had from one of these) a few weeks back which is growing like crazy, today I spotted a second growth near it.

I keep it on an east windowledge and seeing as I keep forgetting to water it, I keep it fairly dry. I was speaking to someone in an orchid nursary the other day who said they can be very tricky due to getting the watering right, he suggested drier was better which is what I end up doing due to neglect

Now the perhaps unusal thing which I will mention. Traditionally advise is always that you don't grow orchids on a windowledge above a radiator... well I don't have much choice and both myself and my Mum have found that Phals actually do well there (although we are coming to the conclusion that is the reason they spike late in the spring rather than in the winter). Mum has measured the temps on her window ledge and they don't actually get that high. Not tried on mine yet.

Well my Miltoniopsis is growing on a windowledge over a radiator as well... and it appears to be loving it. I know it's meant to be cool growing but it seems to like where it is. I need to get a new Min/Max Thermometer to find out what it is actually getting there (my old one went in the new greenhouse recently). We don't keep the heating that high though, max on the thermostat is about 20C.

I've had that problem. I have no idea if this one has the same problem, I took it out the pot and found such a mass of roots that I haven't dug in to the center to find out. Humidity is currently not the best (central heating), but you are right, it is normally nice and high in this country which is good for a lot of my chids.
