Thumbs up

Jerry I your Twinkles and I have got to get some... I have a few other Onc. but no Twinkles.
One question for you how deep do you plant your Onc.?
Should the bulbs be below the medium? The reason I ask is that I have lost two with the bulbs getting mushy. These were planted below the medium.

Thanks Sheridan

My preference is the white one. The cascade look is so pretty.

I honestly don't know Chris. I have had them for some time and I'm going to make a guess of perhaps 4 years (or maybe longer).

Do they smell the same?
I'm afraid that I can't detect any fragrance on either. My sense of smell is pretty well shot. If they are fragrant, I would imagine John is right that the fragrance will be stronger in bright light.

Most likely the reason the pseudobulbs turned mushy is from being repotted with them deep in the potting medium. I keep the base of the bulbs just on top of the medium and I grow Twinkles fairly dry (probably too dry).

I'm with you Marilyn. I like the yellow one better as well. I may see if I can lay hands on another pink or red one and see if the same thing happens. It really kind of upsets me that I can't seem to get the arrangement I want with the current pink one.

Oh I love them both!
I was lucky enough to get a Twinkle at the Illowa orchids Christmas dinner, it (and all my other plants) is looking a little abused at the moment from being squished together and driven to my new apartment in a box to keep them warm... it was something like -20 windchills when I moved.
Mine is a red form, it has spikes on about half of the psuedobulbs.

My little guy looks a little crowded in its 2 in pot. Do they like to be potbound? I feel like it needs to be repotted soon but never sure.

These are gorgeous, Jerry. I personally like the Pinkie the way it cascades which is why I like Dendrochilums. I don't think there's anything to figure out. It just is what it is, perhaps?

Beautiful, great growing.

They do like to be potbound, but it depends on just how crowded yours is. I bought mine in a 2 inch pot also and it had about 13 large (relatively speaking, lol) pseudobulbs. I couldn't keep the poor thing watered and lost nearly all the roots. However, I tend to underwater. As long as you can keep it watered, they prefer a small pot.
