Default Need help with I.D. from Oncidium Alliance

This evening my stepdaughter gave me this beautiful orchid. There's no I.D. but it's clearly from the Oncidium alliance. The flowers are 5 1/2 in. from top to bottom and a little over 4 in. wide and they have a pale yellowish green wash that's not accurately captured in the photo. I'm picking up a faint fragrance reminiscent of baby powder. Could this be a Brassidium or Miltassia and are these names interchangable. The generic tag just says it's an orchid, duh, and that it prefers temperatures between 60 and 80 degrees. I hope it tolerates higher temperatures or it will more than likely succumb during our 95 to 100 degree incredibly humid summers.

I'm very sorry I can't help you with an ID but let me be the first to say that is a gorgeous orchid!

I'm seeing a little of the green colour in the first picture you posted and it's a really nice backdrop to the darker pattern. Reminds me of mint-chocolate ice cream.

where did your stepdaughter buy it? you could go to the store and see if there is one similar with a name tag.
does the orchid tag say the name of the grower? you could go to their website.

I always check trader joe's and they have similar ones.
some tagged some not. it could be the tag got lost in shipping or one vendor does not provide it.

anyway intergenerics are such a crapshot. looks like some genus but who knows...?
Some genes in the DNA may not be apparent.

How would you know if it is a Degomoara a Beallara or who knows what? maybe even a mix of the 2?

Yes it does, but I can't really equate it to anything specific. It's medium in intensity, not offensive, and smells a bit like carnation with a subtle hint of burnt wood.

She purchased the orchid and a hanging slat basket of bromeliads at Lowe's. The Chid. didn't have a nursery tag...just a generic one identifying it as an orchid. The bromeliad grouping had a Kerry's Nursery tag.
