Any fragrant chids' from Trader Joe's?
Default Any fragrant chids' from Trader Joe's?

The only source of cheap orchids probably TJ's. I miss the fragrant of orchids. Especially Miltoniopsis but the hot weather of So Cal makes it harder than it should be. So the price is good for me to try. But I wonder which common TJ's orchids are fragrant since many orchids only fragrant part of the day. I have seen Andres Wild West over there.

Any suggestion?

TJ's usually has Oncidium Sharry Baby. not sure what else they have, I don't buy orchids from them often, I'm more interested in species.

I've seen several fragrant Oncs., like Sharry Baby and Twinkle, as well as intergenerics like Nelly Isler 'Swiss Beauty' which smells great.

I'm in N Ca and have got a few fragrant orchids from TJs. Onc Sharry Baby, Onc Twinkle, noid Milt, noid Onc. Some aren't as strong a fragrance as Sharry Baby so only became aware of the fragrance later. The noid Milt I got last year and didn't know it was fragrant til it bloomed this year.

With the holidays on the horizon I think they will be carrying more orchids - seemed that way last year, so it may be a good time to look there. I think I may need to go over there as well

They got a new shipment yesterday and I got myself an Onc Twinkle for 9.99. they had a bunch of those with many unopened buds. One wth a purple tag and a diff serial # that is a bit shorter and another with a white tag. same name slightly different growth habit.

I wish they had a pink one but happy with what I got. so many PB!

If someone want to grab one in Brooklyn they are all fresh and just shipped. At the store in Manhattan they do not have as much selection.

Re the scent is good... But my Cestrum nocturnum [night blooming jasmine - not a true jasmine] is way way way better... it grew so much this summer and has been flowering 2 months and will have to cut it back a bit.
But The Onc Twinke looks great next to my bed by the purple Oxalys

Well mine is outside so usually have been watering in the afternoon and I can smell it then - I would guess it's likely stronger in the morning and fades as day wears on. It isn't super strong fragrance like my Sharry Baby which I can smell from across the room. Also I have noticed it takes a few days after the bloom has opened before the fragrance 'kicks in'. I'm not sure if all milts will have the same fragrance. In the past I have noticed some have a fragrance, but nothing special. This particular one has a lovely fragrance. I did not notice the fragrance last year when I got it however. It was a happy surprise when I caught the fragrance this year.
