Shooting Star from Orchid Show

Wonderful! Thanks for sharing, I cannot get my Brassia to flower and envy those who can. I don't understand it, it's a massive plant.

I recently bought the exact orchid you are talking about (shooting star). Although the orchid was tagged as a (gilded urchin, "ontario", brsdm). I'm fairly new with growing orchids, and I'm not exactly sure how to care for them, especially this one. The man I bought it from said to keep it inside, and not to let it get too much light. But everything I have read says that it needs lots of light.

I'm confused. I have never had luck with inside orchids.

I just recently purchased this one myself. Any tips on how to keep it flowering and alive, lol... I have it in an east window in a glazed ceramic pot. It was outside all spring and summer this year, and now I can't get it out of the pot to replant it, lol...

Cool temperatures make the flowers last longer. Let fry a bit between waterings. I fertilize with a 1/4/ strength mix of orchid food every time I water.

Very informative post as Itoo have problems - I have had one about a year - it spiked & flowers started opening but by that time I had overwatered and rotted the roots....& it is the sorriest looking orchid in my collection!!
although I have been reserrecting it (repotted into a tiny pot) & hopefully I will get a second attempt at growing it.. :crossed fings:
