Default Time for the butterflies again...

Well, apparently, the people in south Florida have the pleasure of seeing these bloom year-round. Unfortunately, in Tampa, they have somewhat of a dormant season (from blooming, anyway). Mine are all starting to bloom now, and bloom until springtime. This is Psychopsis Mariposa var alba and Psychopsis Mariposa. I also have a Psychopsis Butterfly with 6 spikes that is starting to grow buds.

I have two of them here in Massachusetts that spend the warmer months outdoors and the winter and fall indoors. They are always in bloom. They need no seasonal influence to initiate flowering.

Smile Butterflies

I see your Papilio are mounted rather than potted. Do they grow better that way? I have just one lonely Papilio and it is in a pot. It seems to be progressing. There is one spike and another new growth coming along. Unfortunately, when it was trying to form a bud, some insect came along and ate the bud. Then the spike broke right above the eaten bud. It is now growing again from where the eaten bud was.
Oh, the perils of Pauline.

I love these butterflies I have 2 mendenhalls blooming now and a yellow one (not sure of name) with 2 spikes. I wish they would all bloom at the same time.

I know of some sources for it, but outside the UK. Shipping will be more expensive, but it may be the only way to get one. Anyways I think you'll have to wait until spring now, unless some growers ship with heat packs. Let me know if you want some addresses.
