Oncidium NOID; need help with ID
Hi all,
my Miltassia Royal Robe that I purchased at Lowes in May has turned out to be a Oncidium, I think. I have searched the web and info that I turned up point to it being an altissimum.
I really would like some confirmation, re-direction, help...anything to avoid having a NOID http://www.orchidboard.com/community...ew/big/mad.gif .

Could be some type of Colmanara, but it might be just about impossible to figure out exactly who she is. Have you tried contacting the grower?

Thank you both. I have tried to contact Costa Farms and they just lied to me and never called back. This plant came from Better-Gro; I should try and contact them. Does anyone have any experience with Better-Gro?
The flowers are about 2" across when spread out. The plant sure took to the environment: GE reveal incandescent lights, humidity below 50%. It's a pretty plant, but, I really don't like NOIDS! Well, its a member of the family now so I'll just have to cope.

I don't think it is a Colmanara if my limited experience is anything to go by, the pseudobulb is too tall for its width, if that makes sense?

Oncidium NOID
The big box stores are really not interested in the variety of the plant, they just want to sell plants. The poor things suffer from the most gross neglect, it is criminal. I bought a Cattleya type seedling some years ago from Lowe's and when I asked them what it was, they looked at me as if I were crazy to even suggest such a thing. Finally, it is getting big enough to put out a sheath and I will get to know what it looks like but its name?

Well you liked it when you bought it and now you don't like it anymore?
Not ideal to have no tag - you have a nice plant.
if you bought it at a proper nursery probably ou would have paid twice.
So many hybrids unrealistic to figure out what it exactly is.
people can love mutt dogs with no pedigree...

The psuedobulb in de background looks a bit like the new pb on my Colmanara Wildcat. Flower shape seems to be a cross between Wilsonara and Colmanara to me? Looks a bit like Colmanara (Wild Cat?) Everlasting?

Stefpix: The paradox of the NOID. Not having all the information about the thing you love. The ache of not knowing everything that should be know. An Orchid is not a dog; an Orchid needs to be understood in order for it to survive. The lineage of the Orchid is important in understanding what it needs in order to be healthy.
All I know about this beautiful (all 13 of its blooms or open) plant is that it is an Orchid. I hate NOID's, I love Orchids.
