I just bought the Mendenhall also but not the alba, I was told if you like the spotted leaves you grow it more to the phal. part of your grow area. It likes to be watered often to keep damp, but dosen't need to be dried out.

Thanks the leaves aren't spotted but i think that I will grow it with that much light I had it on my porch completely shaded but still getting a good bit of light and she seemed like she was getting too much so I brought her inside and I will just see how much she likes it, oh and it came with moss covering the top I'm not sure I like it that much I'd rather see my plant than the moss think taking it off would be a good idea?

In case you haven't tried, lots of Psychopsis culture is available on the net if you do a quick search.

Basially you treat this plant like any Oncidium. Is there something in particular you are looking for?
I have three with one more on the way, and there is a member here that has great success with them. Perhaps a specific question would be the way to go.

well i have the alba and it is just about to bloom so i think I'm doing ok but i was really wondering on the lighting, for example i have it in my room at the moment and every morning i wake up and open my curtains so it can get light the window is west facing and i think its getting enough sun, and for the watering part, for example i just water it like most my other orchids when i think it needs it my phap. supersuk Ive read i should only water every 7-10 days however it dries quickly and i water it much more often and the leafs are splitting, the alba is doing well as far as i know, it has some moss on the top and i wanted to remove it but i think the roots are all throughout the under part of the moss so I'm afraid of disturbing the roots

Well, if your plant is blossoming it shows that it is happy. Keep on doing what you are doing. As far as watering is concerned, when I had mine in bark it seemed they liked it a bit on the dry side. Now they are in S/H so the watering problem is mostly solved.
Watering is a difficult problem to address as everyone has different growing environments and therefore different watering requirements. One must really experiment to see what works for them.

Psychopsis papillio v alba is a natural throwout of the species plant.
It is common for some seeds from normal papillio to produce alba (really yellow) flowers. I occasionally have some half way in between.
I never heard to grow 'Mendenhall' dark like Phals. I grow them next to my Vanda in 4000+ fc of light. The spotting on the leaves never changes.
